Amitabh Bachchan: Do not use Amitabh Bachchan’s name, picture and voice even by mistake, it will be difficult, Delhi HC orders

Amitabh Bachchan now without the permission of their Name, Image or Voice cannot be used. Delhi High Court (Delhi HC) has Bollywood Actor This decision was given while hearing a petition today. Along with this, the court has also directed the Ministry of Electronics and IT and Telecom Service Providers to immediately remove the publicly available name, photo and personality traits of Amitabh Bachchan.

Justice Navin Chawla said, “The plaintiff is a famous personality and has been featured in various advertisements as well.” The court observed that the actor is aggrieved by people who are using his celebrity status to promote their goods and services without his permission.

Actually 80 year old Amitabh BachchanBig BHe had approached the court with a petition “against the world at large”, seeking to protect his “name, picture, voice and personality”.

He wanted publicity and personality rights in his own right. Being a famous public figure, Amitabh Bachchan does not want anyone to use his name, voice, picture or personality without his permission.

Senior advocate Harish Salve, appearing for Amitabh Bachchan, argued in the court, “I am just giving an impression of what is going on. Somebody is making a T-shirt and starts putting his face on it. Somebody is selling his poster. Somebody has gone and registered the domain name That’s why we are here.”

The megastar had also sought a restraining order against book publishers, T-shirt sellers and various other businesses.

The court is of the view that prima facie the case is made out in favor of the petitioner. The court also said that if the order is not passed, Amitabh Bachchan is likely to suffer irreparable harm and in some cases may even bring him into disrepute.

In his petition, Amitabh Bachchan has sought directions to the Department of Telecommunications and the Union Ministry of Electronics and IT to direct Internet Service Providers to remove lists of links and websites that illegally infringe upon his personality and publicity rights.
