More money will have to be paid to take advantage of PMJJB and PM Suraksha Bima Yojana, know how much premium will have to be paid now

PM Jivan Jyoti Bima News: The premium of Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), launched to cover crores of people across the country under the purview of insurance policy, has been increased.

The decision to increase the premium of the central government’s insurance scheme has been taken to keep the government insurance scheme financially viable. The premium for PMJJBY has been increased to Rs.1.25 per day.

If you also want to take advantage of Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), now you will have to pay ₹ 436 instead of ₹ 330 annually. In a statement issued by the government, it has been said that the annual premium for PM Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) has been increased from ₹ 12 to ₹ 20.

The new premium rates of Pradhan Mantri Bima Yojana have come into effect from June 1, 2022. The premium of Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) has been increased by 32 percent, while the premium of PM Suraksha Bima Yojana has been increased by 67%.

This decision has been taken on the basis of the claim made under this insurance scheme of the Central Government. As of the end of the last financial year, there were 6.4 crore active users under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), while there were 22 crore active subscribers under the PM Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY).

Since the launch of Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima (PMSBY) till March 31, 2022, an amount of Rs 1134 crore has been raised as premium and claims of Rs 2513 crore have been paid. If we talk about PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), an amount of Rs 9737 crore was raised as premium while claim of Rs 14144 crore was paid.

The government has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a target to increase the coverage of PMJJBY from 6.4 crores to 15 crore people in the next 5 years to provide insurance facility to every person in India.

Along with this, under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), the central government has set a target of bringing 37 crore people in the next 5 years instead of 22 crore people. Under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), people in the age group of 18 to 50 years having a savings account in a bank or post office get an insurance cover of ₹ 200000 in case of death due to any reason. Under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), people in the age group of 18 to 70 years get an insurance cover of ₹ 2 lakh for accidental death or permanent disability and ₹ 100000 for partial permanent disability.
