WhatsApp Ban: WhatsApp banned 18.05 lakh Indian accounts in March. This was done as part of an internal mechanism to prevent complaints received from users and violation of service conditions on this platform. This information has been given in the monthly report of the social media company. Under the new Information Technology (IT) rules that came into force last year, digital platforms with more than 5 million users are required to publish a compliance report every month. These reports contain details of complaints and action taken on them.

According to the latest report, between March 1 and 31, 2022, WhatsApp has banned 18.05 lakh Indian accounts after they came to know about the misuse. Indian accounts were identified through +91 phone number. A WhatsApp spokesperson said that “as mentioned in the latest monthly report, the company has banned more than 18 lakh accounts in the month of March.”
